Welding offers lower interface resistance but requires higher cost and precision. For aluminum fins and copper heat pipe welding, electroplating processing is typically necessary to ensure proper bonding. Welding quality is critical - uneven application or internal bubbles can significantly impair heat transfer efficiency.
Modern air-cooled heat sinks consist of three main components: heat pipes, zipper fins, and base. Each component significantly impacts cooling effectiveness, and all three are interrelated. Simply enhancing one component doesn't guarantee qualitative improvement in heat sink efficiency, but any deficiency in these components can severely compromise overall performance.
