Heat Sink Technology Overview
Current heat pipe and zipper fin heat sinks primarily utilize two methods: welding (solder) and fin penetration. Welding offers lower interface thermal resistance but requires higher costs and specialized processes, such as electroplating for aluminum fins and copper heat pipe welding. Precise welding craftsmanship is essential, as uneven welds or internal bubbles can significantly impair heat transfer efficiency.
Modern air-cooled heat sinks consist of three main components: base, heat pipes, and fins. Each component critically impacts cooling performance, and all three must work in harmony. Simply enhancing one part doesn't guarantee substantial efficiency improvements, while any deficiency in these components can severely compromise overall heat sink performance.
